Trust & safety
Rent safely
Most people on VaraHobey are honest, but scams exist on every marketplace. These simple habits protect you.
Visit before you pay
Always see the place in person, at a time when you can check water, gas and electricity.
No advance to strangers
Never send advance or booking money by bKash, Nagad or bank to someone you have not met.
Verify the owner
Ask for the owner's NID and a utility bill or holding paper in the same name.
Sign an agreement
Write down rent, advance, notice period and who pays which bills — and keep a copy.
Pay with a receipt
Get a signed receipt for every payment, including the advance.
Too good to be true?
Very low rent plus pressure to pay quickly is the most common scam pattern.
For owners
- Meet tenants in person and ask for their NID before handing over keys.
- Inform your local police station about new tenants, as required by law.
- Only share your address with people who have contacted you about the listing.
